NewsSeptember 2007: A new thesaurus for Index New Zealand, find out more... About Index New Zealand ThesaurusUntil September 2007 subject terms used in Index New Zealand were from the Index New Zealand Thesaurus, which is based on the APAIS thesaurus, created by the National Library of Australia. Faceted Application of Subject Terminology (FAST) terms are now used for new records. The Index New Zealand Thesaurus has been designed to describe journal and newspaper articles about New Zealand and the South Pacific in the areas of social sciences and humanities. This version was released in November 2005 and contains over 1,200 preferred terms. Note: Terms in italics are non-preferred terms. They always have a 'Use' reference. The 'Use' reference is the term you should use. Selected terms from the Māori Subject Headings Ngā Ūpoko Tukutuku and Iwi Hapū names list are also used in Index New Zealand records.
